Agreeing to these terms
These terms are an agreement between Sermonary (“Sermonary”, “we”, “us”) and the church or ministry that creates an account (“you”, “your church”). By creating an account you confirm that you are at least 18 and have the authority to agree on your church’s behalf.
How we handle personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
What Sermonary does
Sermonary lets a church record, upload or capture its services, turns them into a transcript and a short written summary, and emails that summary to the members and visitors who signed up — usually by scanning the church’s QR code.
We keep improving Sermonary, so features may change. If we remove something your church relies on, we’ll give reasonable notice.
Accounts & roles
- Each church has one owner, who is responsible for the account, its plan and its team. Ownership can be handed to someone else from Settings.
- The owner can invite staff (who help with every ministry) and ministry leaders (who see only their own ministries). You’re responsible for who you invite and for what they do in your account.
- Keep sign-in details private and tell us at hello@sermonary.ai if you think an account has been misused.
Your church’s content
Recordings, transcripts, summaries, speaker names, logos and anything else your church adds (“your content”) belong to your church. You give us permission to store, process and send your content only as needed to provide Sermonary to you — including transcribing and summarising it and emailing it to your subscribers.
Each summary has a public page that anyone with its link can open, so members can listen and share. You can hide a summary’s page at any time.
You confirm you have the right to use your content this way — for example, permission to include music, readings or guest speakers you record.
Recording & consent
- Only record services where people can reasonably expect to be recorded — for example, services that are already livestreamed, or where you tell the congregation.
- Take extra care with prayer meetings, pastoral moments and anything involving children. Prayer-meeting summaries are written without names or personal requests, but what you record is your responsibility.
- Follow the laws that apply to recording in your area.
Summaries & review
Transcripts and summaries are produced automatically, using speech recognition and AI. They are usually accurate, but they can contain mistakes — a misheard name, a wrong verse, or a point that isn’t quite what was preached.
That’s why every summary waits for your church to review it before it is sent. If you turn on automatic sending, it always leaves a window to cancel first. Your church is responsible for the summaries it sends; please read them before they go out.
Members & email
- Only add people who have agreed to receive your church’s summaries. People who sign up themselves confirm their email address before anything is sent.
- Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe, and we honour unsubscribes and bounces automatically. Don’t re-add people who have left.
- Use Sermonary for your church’s messages, not for unrelated promotions, and follow the email laws that apply to you.
- Receiving summaries is always free for members.
Voice profiles
If your church uses voice recognition, each speaker must agree for themselves using our consent flow (a parent or guardian for anyone under 18). Don’t create or keep a voice profile for someone who hasn’t agreed, and delete a profile if the person asks. See how we handle voice data.
Plans & billing
- Starter is free for up to 50 subscribers.
- The Church plan gives unlimited subscribers and is billed monthly or yearly, in US dollars, through secure checkout. Prices are shown before you pay, and taxes may be added where they apply.
- Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel any time from Manage billing; the Church plan stays on until the end of the period you’ve paid for. We don’t refund part-used periods, except where the law requires.
- If a payment fails we’ll keep trying for a while and let you know. If it can’t be collected, your church moves back to Starter.
- Moving to Starter never removes anyone: everyone already on your list keeps receiving summaries, but new people can’t join while you’re over 50.
- If we change prices, we’ll tell the account owner at least 30 days before the change affects you.
Acceptable use
Please don’t use Sermonary to:
- send messages to people who didn’t ask for them, or anything misleading or harmful;
- record or share content you don’t have the right to, or that is unlawful, hateful or harassing;
- try to break into, overload, copy or reverse-engineer the service, or get around its limits;
- resell Sermonary or give access to people outside your church without our agreement.
Suspension & closing
- You can close your church’s account at any time by emailing hello@sermonary.ai. You can ask for an export of your data first.
- We may pause an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk. While paused, nothing is recorded or sent. Where we can, we’ll explain why and give you a chance to fix it first.
- When an account is closed, everything in it is deleted 30 days later. Until then it can be restored.
Our responsibility
We work hard to keep Sermonary reliable, but we can’t promise it will always be available or error-free. Some things are outside our control — for example a livestream that isn’t live, or an email provider that delays delivery.
As far as the law allows, Sermonary is provided “as is”, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability to your church for any claim is limited to the amount your church paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$100 if that is more. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.
Changes
We may update these terms as Sermonary grows. If a change matters, we’ll update the date at the top and email the account owner before it takes effect. Continuing to use Sermonary after that means you accept the new terms.
